Job Description

Calling all recent grads! Porsche is searching for a Supplier Quality Engineer technical expert for their respective technical discipline as it pertains to all Porsche models in operation within the market. This responsibility necessitates staying abreast of the latest technology in Development and validation within Porsche AG and the industry.

Description:

Pay: $33.90/hr ($70,512 annually)

Duration: 12 months with possible extension

Position overview

The Quality Engineering Team answers for technical quality management in North America by overseeing operations integral to the market’s quality process cycleerror-elimination process at the supplier(s), in the market, and in some cases, globally. Within this Team, the Quality Engineer ensures timely resolution for all topics belonging to their dedicated Engineering technical discipline.

Roles & responsibilities

Supplier Quality Engineering (External)

• End to end ownership of the Supplier’s Quality from requirements, development, industrialization to customer experience and warranty

• Champion and negotiate with suppliers to initiate problem solving and root cause analysis activities to eliminate non-conformances and defects experienced by customers

• Review Supplier metric data and generate reports for management, supplier development, risk mitigation and supplier reviews

• Support containment activity through Supplier Quality Management to include weekly analysis and resolution of trending defects

• Address Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction based on customer feedback (repurchases, complaints and warranty info.) and identify critical-to-quality parameters in supplier processes

• Be knowledgeable of applicable laws and regulations

• Negotiate, collaborate, and resolve conflicts with Suppliers on major projects

• When necessary, coordinate and manage change management on behalf of both the supplier(s) and Porsche AG

• Monitor market quality by analyzing various sensors to include repetitive failures by the Technical Support Team, the Porsche Quality Information System, Technical and Smart Mobility Support tickets, repurchases, and other sources of product quality topics and complaints

• Perform root cause analysis utilizing tools and software such Vector CANape, CANoe and other data acquisition means

• Collaborate with PAG Departments responsible for Quality and Engineering to facilitate and expedite countermeasure development and validation

• Support Technical Support Hotline and Field Technical Managers with 3rd level support for pressing and frequent topics

• Develop and manage field information and field fixes as Advanced Technical Information bulletins to implement short- and long-term service solutions, keeping Porsche Center technicians informed on known topics

• Assist with Development Engineering initiatives in North America through supporting activities such as test tours and other validation trials, which may include extended travel

• Provide guidance and direction for Quality Engineering team and Food and Beverage Client technical personnel

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

• Four-year Engineering or technical technical-based degree in automotive related sciences or technologies

• Two years of work experience in fields related to automotive technologies, including internships during studies

• Additional graduate studies in Automotive Engineering can be used toward experience requirements

• Experience with and knowledge of automotive systems

• Experience with associated diagnostic tools to analyze problems in vehicles and related equipment

• Experience with data analysis and engineering evaluations

• Prior experience with the German Language and Culture

Preferred qualifications include:

• Graduate Degree in Engineering

• Fluent or proficient German

• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in fields related to automotive technologies, to include internships during study and or graduate studies in a discipline linked to Automotive Engineering

• Prior Automotive AfterSales and customer experience is a plus

• Ideal candidates are tenacious, persistent, well-organized, flexible in adapting to various forms of challenges, process oriented and work well within a group

• Six-Sigma certifications are beneficial

Percentage of required travel: 10% (estimated)

Schedule/Shift: Monday-Friday, 08:00 to 5:00 ET. 50/50 On-site/Virtual. Up 40 hours/week (exceeding 40 hours/week requires advance approval by manager and ExCo, based on business need)

Physical requirements

• Comfortable with physical exertion for 3 – 5 hour intervals

• Comfortable standing and walking for 3 – 5 hour intervals

• Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5+ hours)

• This job operates in both an office and workshop environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
