Job Summary

The University at Buffalo, in collaboration with the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority and other partners, is launching the pioneering Buffalo ITS4US Complete Trip Deployment project, and ADASTEC Corp. is proud to contribute by deploying a fleet of full-size, electric, Level-4 automated shuttles in the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus area.

As part of this groundbreaking initiative, ADASTEC is looking for a dedicated bus driver (safety driver) to join our team. In this role, you'll operate and monitor our full-size automated bus during on-road tests, primarily on public roads, and benefit from comprehensive training on bus operation, including charging procedures and other essential tasks. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills and a passion for providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the automated bus operates safely and effectively during tests.
  • Work closely with ADASTEC engineers and safety operators and adhere to their instructions.
  • Manually drive the bus when necessary.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and comfort of the bus for all passengers.
  • Handle daily charging of the bus as part of your duties.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Willing and able to work40 hours per week, 5 days a week.
  • At least 22 years of age.
  • Proven stable work history and a safe driving record.
  • Clean MVR - A maximum of 2 minor moving violations or accidents within the past 36 months.
  • There should be no record of serious violations in the past 5 years, including reckless driving, distracted driving, DUI/DWI, speeding 24+ MPH over the limit, driving with a suspended license, or any other serious violations as defined by the state.
  • Ability to pass DOT pre-employment drug screening and meet DOT medical requirements.
  • Chauffeur's license and a New York Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with A, B, or C group designation, plus (P) passenger endorsement.
  • Professional and courteous demeanor, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Attentive to detail and committed to service.
