The day-to-day life of a Medical Management Specialist I in this role would be dynamic, split between remote/virtual tasks, field visits, and team collaboration , especially since it's a travel-required role in the Chicago area . Here's a breakdown of what a typical day might look like:
☀️ Morning: Remote Work & Planning
Review new and existing member cases in the EMR (could be Epic, Allscripts, Athenahealth, etc.).
Plan your outreach schedule : prioritize high-risk or newly discharged members.
Check voicemails, emails, and updates from team members or providers.
Attend a morning team huddle via Microsoft Teams or Zoom , reviewing caseloads, updates, or recent discharges needing follow-up.
📞 Mid-Morning to Early Afternoon: Outreach & Field Visits
Begin outreach calls to members to:
Perform assessments.
Travel to member homes, clinics, or facilities (depending on need).
Document all interactions immediately in the EMR system —this could include progress notes, updated care plans, or social determinants of health (SDOH) needs.
