Job Description

Key Duties & Responsibilities

•  Update and improve all the fiber optic LED and photodetector technical data sheets.
•  Review data on all the active sub-components of fiber optic active devices and seek out design alternatives or better performing devices.
•  Designing and/or reviewing test requirements on all new electronic or fiber optic products.
•  Responsibility for creating and writing electrical test procedures for all standard and custom products.
•  Responsibility for sourcing and upgrading all the electrical test equipment in engineering lab and in-use by manufacturing
•  Troubleshooting and resolve issues with malfunctioning electronic and optoelectronic test equipment in engineering lab and items used by manufacturing.
•  Design or source new electrical/optical test or manufacturing systems to improve processes and reduce labor.
•  Prototype builds of electronic and fiber optic assemblies
•  Review with the engineering and manufacturing team all written assembly or process instructions as products transition into production.
•  Support manufacturing team with technical or hands-on instruction guidance and training as needed.
•  Informed of current and new equipment to improve processes and increase manufacturing productivity.

Qualifications/Skills

•  Associate Degree in Electronics or Manufacturing Technology or a related field.
•  10+ years of experience in engineering or manufacturing support
•  Experience with all the standard electronic measurement tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
•  Electronic troubleshooting and soldering skills
•  Ability to optimize schedule workflow and multi-task various projects.
•  Proficient in interpreting electronic schematic, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
•  Excellent oral and written communication skills
•  Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with customers, manufacturing and purchasing.
•  Capable of working in metric and SI measurement units
•  Mechanical assembly
•  Mechanical 3D drawing and printing skills are a definite plus.

Work Environment

• Involves some physical activity, including standing and bending.
• May require occasional lifting of moderate weight.
