Under the general direction of the Public Works Director, the Village Engineer provides management of Village construction, rehabilitation, and renovation projects including scoping, budget preparation, planning, surveying, design, permitting, bidding and contract administration. In addition, performs engineering work related to municipal operations. This position requires an individual with strong project management skills.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil/mechanical/environmental engineering or a closely related field.
• Four (4) years of work experience in project management, managing the design and construction of public works projects, including but not limited to storm water, roadway, storm water, and parks.
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS.
• Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) in the State of Florida is preferred.
• PMP Certification or similar project management training preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include management of capital projects, engineering review of permit plans and applications, traffic/transportation engineering, in-house design projects including roadways, parking, and drainage, coordination and assistance with GIS, coordination and assistance with engineering inspections, regulatory permitting and compliance, response to public records requests, and other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
• Provide contract management oversight to ensure vendor meets project scope, cost, timeline, and specifications.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope definition, timeliness, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
• Establish project goals, milestones, and deliverables.
• Ensure technical design integrity and compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
• Lead and manage a team of engineers, designers, and other project personnel.
• Foster collaboration and communication with project team.
• Track project budget and expenditures, identifying potential cost overruns.
• Monitor project progress against schedule and implement corrective action as needed.
• Regularly update stakeholders on project status,
• Facilitate communication between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
• Address concerns and manage expectations throughout project lifecycles.
• Implement quality assurance procedures to ensure project deliverables meet specifications.
