Job Description

Job Title: Museum Assistant 

Location: Springdale, AR

Duration: 6 Weeks

Shift: Day Shift

Pay Rate: $17/hr

Position Overview

A professional organization is seeking an Art Inventory Assistant to support a short-term project involving cataloging, photographing, and handling artwork items. This role requires careful attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work safely around fragile, high-value objects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely handle artwork using proper fine art handling techniques.

  • Record detailed object information such as:

    • Title

    • Artist

    • Dimensions

    • Medium

    • Acquisition numbers

    • Current condition

  • Photograph artwork following specific project guidelines and attach images to digital records.

  • Apply permanent inventory tags or labels to items or shelving when instructed.

  • Identify and report damaged, misidentified, or inaccurately cataloged items to the project lead.

  • Follow all security, confidentiality, and environmental safety protocols.

  • Assist with organizing and maintaining inventory materials throughout the project.

Requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.

  • Comfortable working around fragile, valuable, or delicate objects.

  • Ability to lift/move items up to 30 lbs as needed.

  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with spreadsheets or databases is a plus.

  • Prior experience in museums, galleries, archives, or art handling is preferred but not required (training provided).

  • Strong professionalism, reliability, and discretion.

  • Must be able to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.

  • May require working on ladders or step stools under supervision.
