Job Description

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

MSW – $40–$43/hour | LCSW – $46–$49/hour

Are you a passionate, experienced medical social worker with a commitment to education, mentorship, and improving standards of care? We are seeking a Professional Development Specialist – Social Work Educator to join our team and support the growth and effectiveness of social work services across our organization.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Professional Development Specialist, Social Work Educator plays a pivotal role in shaping the professional growth of social workers by designing curriculum, conducting training, mentoring new staff, and monitoring clinical practice standards. This individual will help ensure that best practices in hospice and palliative social work are upheld through performance improvement processes including chart audits, tracer visits, and direct field evaluations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Deliver education during New Employee Orientation (NEO) and provide onboarding support for new social workers
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to social work interns and professionals pursuing LCSW licensure
  • Develop and co-lead continuing education initiatives, including ELNEC programming and community outreach
  • Train staff in EMR usage and implement performance improvement plans as needed
  • Collaborate across departments to support quality, compliance, and educational goals
  • Conduct tracer visits and participate in the QAPI process
  • Ensure current best practices in psychosocial assessment, care planning, and bereavement support
  • Provide education and guidance on hospice philosophy, death and dying, and related care processes

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution (CSWE)
  • Eligible for LCSW licensure within one year; ability to supervise LCSW hours is preferred
  • At least one year of healthcare experience; hospice or palliative care experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in EMR systems and basic computer applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Culturally competent with the ability to provide sensitive, respectful care to diverse populations

Additional Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation with a valid California driver's license, current registration, and auto insurance
  • Ability to travel locally for field visits and educational events
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs and sit for extended periods
