Job Title- Sr. Scrum Master/Product Owner – Data

Location- Berkeley, NJ

Type of Hire – Fulltime

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead Agile delivery for data engineering, analytics, and cloud data platform projects involving pipelines, governance, quality, and ML operationalization.
• Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Refinement, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Work closely with Product Owners to refine backlogs, structure user stories, set acceptance criteria, and prioritize data features.
• Partner with Data Architects, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Cloud teams to ensure clarity of scope and smooth execution.
• Identify and remove impediments, manage dependencies, and ensure delivery alignment across data, analytics, and business teams.
• Track sprint metrics such as velocity, burndown, spillover, and team capacity; use insights to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure data governance, lineage, data quality rules, and compliance requirements are followed as part of data delivery.
• Coordinate cross-team releases including data pipelines, background jobs, ML model deployments, and cloud environment updates.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement within data delivery squads.

Mandatory Skills:

Cloud Data Stack Awareness

Familiarity with Azure/AWS/GCP data services, Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse, Big Query

Backlog & Sprint Management

Ability to refine stories; prioritize backlog; define acceptance criteria; plan sprints

Cross-Team Coordination

Experience collaborating across Data Eng, QA, DevOps, Data Science, and business teams

Data Governance Awareness

Understanding of data quality rules, lineage, governance processes

Tools – JIRA/ADO/Confluence

Hands-on experience managing sprints, boards, dashboards, documentation
