Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Senior Group Underwriter with a hybrid work schedule. As a Senior Group Underwriter, you will be responsible for adherence to Underwriting guidelines and selection standards, and for the profitability of our New Business accounts.

Nature and Scope of Responsibilities

  • Price New Business Cases within requested timeframes.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities and determine if cases meet Underwriting Guidelines.
  • Calculate manual and experience rated new business accounts.
  • Issue appropriate rates and accurately describe terms of offer.
  • Explain offer to Sales/Service staff.
  • Accurately price plan modifications.
  • Respond to pricing appeals on quotes.
  • Review and approve sold cases.
  • Provide adjustments for non-standard manual rates.
  • Projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Math or business equivalent experience.
  • 4 - 6 years group life/health underwriting experience.
  • General analytical skills, strong proficiency in Excel, high math aptitude.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and flexibly on projects with members of other departments, as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in the office 2 to 3 days a week.

Pay: $79,000.00 – $92,700.00 per year

(inclusive of a merit-based bonus, dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, location as well as applicable skillset) and an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive benefit plan, generous employer match for 401k and employer paid Money Purchase retirement plan.
