Proprio advances surgery through a proprietary platform that synthesizes artificial intelligence, computer vision, and augmented reality. Proprio’s flagship Paradigm system is an advanced surgical navigation system that can provide critical information unifying pre-operative imaging and planning with intraoperative performance data. This singular longitudinal data set can deliver significant value to the entire surgical ecosystem.

At Proprio, you will enjoy the ability to influence our company as we grow, work across multiple domains, and have a voice in developing our culture. We value diversity in all forms and have at our core a strong sense of ethics and what it means to be a company actively pursuing social good. Our team works closely with leading medical and research institutions and has a deep background in neurosurgery, medical devices, entrepreneurship, robotics, and computer vision.

The primary focus of the algorithms and machine learning team at Proprio is to develop new technical solutions which lay the foundation of the PARADIGM surgical platform’s state-of-the-art navigation and measurement capabilities. You can expect to work on challenging problems such as:

  • Determining sub-system and total-system accuracies in order to ensure patient safety and obtain regulatory approval.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and evaluate new algorithms for preoperative planning, intraoperative processing and postoperative analyses,
  • Participate in design and code reviews for other sub-system software components,
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as hardware, preclinical research and marketing, in order to ensure user needs are satisfied,
  • Full-stack development for the creation of interactive demonstrations of prototype technology.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field,
  • Extremely comfortable with 3D math, coordinate system transformations and related concepts such as image registration,
  • Prior experience working with 3D medical image data,
  • Knowledge of numerical optimization fundamentals,
  • Proficient with programming in either Python or C++.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in computer science or a related field,
  • 1 year of commercial experience in software development,
  • Familiarity with machine learning in the context of medical image analysis or computer integrated surgery, including dataset curation,
  • Experience with GPU programming (e.g. CUDA, OpenCL)
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments in order to evaluate new concepts and technology (e.g. through prior industrial experience, published papers or technical reports),
  • Willingness to work hands-on with cadaveric specimens.

Proprio offers its employees a generous range of compensation and benefits.

  • Salary Range: $150,000- $175,000: Our compensation philosophy is to bring people into new roles in the range of the mid-point of that role. Factors considered for pay include the level of skill, experience, training, external market factors, and internal equity.
  • Generous, early-stage stock options
  • Unlimited PTO (Paid Time Off) and paid sick leave
  • Paid family and medical leave, plus paid parental leave
  • 10 paid holidays
  • Fully covered medical, dental and vision benefits for employees, and 50% of spouse/domestic partner and dependent premiums
  • Life and long-term disability coverage
  • Employee assistance program
  • Commuter and health benefits
  • Company sponsored 401(k)
  • Pet friendly work environment

The job description is representative of typical duties and responsibilities for the position and is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned in accordance with business needs. A background check will be conducted after a conditional offer of employment is extended.
